Salon Music is proud to announce a highly exciting venture. Owners, Daniël Vos and Willem Vogel purchased shares in the Greenlyn Village Centre. These industrious entrepreneurs are in the process of establishing the Brooklyn Theatre & Conference Venue in the premises previously occupied by The Performer. Extensive renovations will soon be under way to create a venue suited to Salon Music’s stylish image.
The present ‘dinner theatre’ seating arrangement in the theatre is being abolished to make way for elegant raked auditorium style seating. The interior design will be along the lines of a small European Opera House. Salon Music is also investing in a Steinway concert grand piano for the theatre.
Salon Music’s highly varied annual concert seasons will be staged in the Brooklyn Theatre as from April 2010. The theatre will be available for hire to outside parties and production houses for classical concerts, World Music and Jazz. The acoustics will also be suitable for dramatic productions.
Greenlyn Village Centre offers concert goers a wide choice of excellent restaurants to visit before and after concerts. Woolworths Food Quality Controller and Cordon Bleu chef, Izette Oelofse, is also joining the ranks at the theatre. She will be in charge of delicious snacks for concerts and conferences. Patrons will be allowed to take liquid refreshments into the theatre during concerts.
The Salon Music CD shop in the Brooklyn Mall remains open for CD, DVD and ticket sales for Salon Music concerts. An additional branch of the shop will eventually be established in the foyer of the Brooklyn Theatre.
Prior to the opening of the theatre, Salon Music will be staging only two concerts in the Allegro Concert Season 2010. These are – Piano Man at the Guy Butler Theatre in Grahamstown on Saturday night 30th January and Cuban Café in the Queenspark Atrium in the Brooklyn Mall on Saturday night 13th February to celebrate Valentine’s Day 2010.
The Brooklyn Theatre will open on Friday 9th April 2010.
